46-year-old daycare worker faces manslaughter charge after child’s death

According to the Mobile District Attorney, in order to add the additional charge of manslaughter, the paperwork had been filed against Patterson.

Several officers of the court had restrained a son of a 46-year-old woman who accused of corpse child abuse. The officers stopped her son when he attacked the podium.

A 5-year-old child named Kamden Johnson was found dead  On 21st August, in the driveway of the home, Johnson was found dead.

Valarie Rena Patterson of Mobile has been charged with a corpse abuse, she appeared in front of Judge Bob Sherling in the Mobile District Court. She is facing change and linked with the death of the 5-year-old Johnson. The child was found dead in the driveway of his home at Demotropolis Road in 2100 block.

Ashley Rich the Attorney of Mobile District served as the main prosecutor of the case, Lawrence Battiste who is a Chief of Mobile Police Department also attended the hearing.

According to the Mobile District Attorney, in order to add the additional charge of manslaughter, the paperwork had been filed against Patterson.

Rich said, “It’s just a formality at this point.” Rich added, “The judge wants everything together so we’ve reset the bond hearing to tomorrow.”

Rich said that this kind of cases has emotions linked with the death of the child which affects everyone. Rich said, “I don’t think there was any intent to harm anyone by that man. I think he was just emotionally distraught.”

Rich said, “He did not follow the rules and we have to maintain order in the courtroom and everybody has to follow the rules regardless of being distraught or not.”
