East Windsor Police arrested two for leaving 16-month-old toddler in the hot car

The East Windsor Police and East Windsor Ambulance personnel found the 16-month-old girl in the car seat.

A woman from New Britain and her brother have been arrested after leaving the toddler in the hot car. The police arrested the brother sister on Monday night. The woman is charged with her brother for leaving her 16-month-old daughter in the vehicle.

The toddler was found alone in the hot car in the  Walmart parking lot on Route 5. The East Windsor Police Department received the phone call at about 6:30 PM, they got to know that the toddler has been left alone in the window-up car.

The East Windsor Police and East Windsor Ambulance personnel found the 16-month-old girl in the car seat. The doors of the car were unlocked, the child was sweating when police found her, the police took her out of the hot car. The toddler was distressed at the scene.

Police said, during the time of the incident the temperature was reportedly approx 81 degrees, which is considered to be very high. For evaluation, the toddler was taken to the Connecticut Children’s Medical Center. The personnel was sent to the hospital to investigate the case by the Department of Children and Families.

After 45 minutes when police were investigating the scene, two persons came to the hot car, the woman named Gloria Sanchez-Cerritos, 22 told the police that she is a mother of the toddler who was left alone in the car.

She stated that she forgot her daughter in the car, the another person identified as Gloria Sanchez-Cerritos’ brother Juan Sanchez-Cerritos, 30, his is an uncle of the toddler.

Both brother sisters are now in the police custody for investigation, police charged them with the risk of injury to a toddler and leaving them alone in the car. Both individuals held on $100,000 bond, they have to appear in the Enfield Superior Court on Tuesday for hearing of the case.
