Irma Update: Sunshine State facing power outage and heat, 5 dead at South Florida

The ongoing outages getting worse with Florida's heat. The temperature is supposed to touch the mark of 90s in Hollywood this week.

Hurricane Irma’s death toll is continuously increasing since the tropical storm hit the Florida. The local officials said, the hurricane has taken the lives of five people at South Florida nursing home, the nursing home was without air conditioning.

In a morning news briefing on Wednesday, the Broward County Mayor, Barbara Sharief said, two people were pronounced dead at the hospital while three other people lost their lives at the facility in Hollywood, Florida.

However, the facility is under the evacuation order, but the evacuation needs to come in effect.

The nursing home is believed to lost air conditioning after Hurricane Irma, the actual cause of death was not cleared immediately. According to the authorities, people were being evacuated from the facility to save places.

Hundreds of thousands of people facing power outage since the Hurricane Irma stumbles the state. The utilities have announced that power outage in some area could be extended for days, it could even extend for weeks. It leads the Floridians without air conditioning. For scores of people, the air conditioning has been cut off as it poses a high level of danger.

For many people, the life will never be same after Irma. The facility faced power outage for three days where the elderly patients suffered due to heat and ongoing outages. The search and rescue operations carried out by National Gaurd and many volunteers in order to save the needy people.
