Drinking Alcohol damages brain: Binge drinking can lead a person to anxiety, blackouts and memory loss while long-term drinking can permanently damage the brain and causes serious mental issues. Alcohol can damage several parts of the brain and affect the behavior of the person. It also affects the ability to remember and learn.

Caffeine intake links with depressive symptoms: Too much consumption of caffeine can lead you to several mental problems. According to the reports, caffeine intake (more than 6 cups a day) is linked with less depressive symptoms. The past studies have shown that higher consumption of tea, coffee, and energy drinks negatively affect sleep. There is an indirect relationship between sleep and mental health, where sleep is directly related to person’s mood and disturbed sleep has a negative effect on mental health.

Sugar is associated with depression: Just like caffeine, too much consumption of sugar is not good for mental health as it higher the blood glucose level in the body, it also increases the level of a certain type of protein, this protein controls the neurons growth and synapses declines in the body. Sugar plays a similar role to cocaine in affecting mood, the food item is linked to cellular inflammation. The evidence proves that it is linked with the onset of depression.

Saturated fats and hydrogenated oils: Partially Hydrogenated Oils (PHOs) are not safe for our mental health as these oils are the main dietary source of artificial trans fat in processed foods. Saturated fats are trans fats that linked heart attacks and other heart problems while the dietary Omega-3s has a great effect on mental health.

High sodium food: Adding too much salt to your food can lead you to higher blood pressure. It can affect the neurological system, it can also damage a person’s immune system and make a person feel tired all day and lethargic.

A balanced diet can boost up your mental health, it will also protect you from numerous health problems.
