Aaron Gouveia is raising his three boys to reject the poisonous masculine. But unfortunately, that garbage is everywhere already spread.
The story will start as a bad story but later on, it gets better. Aaron Gouveia’s son, Sam is 5 years old. Dad always told that Sam is what many of them would prefer to say as “Boy’s Boy”, always dirty, loves trucks, rough and tumble and a huge sports person. etc.
Sam also like a lot of things which girls do, such as he carries purses and love to paint his nails with different-different colors because he thinks they”look beautiful” But when Sam paints his nail with red color and went to school, his Kindergarten peers bullied him.
Gouveia tries not to strengthen unnecessary gender patterns and says, “Sam has no concept of nail polish only being used by girls or reason to think anyone would possibly have a problem with beautiful nails ” Unfortunately, that is not true at all for his classmates. When he paints his nail with a nail paint and went to school, kids called him by unusual names and told him to take off the nail paint from his nails.
At the age of 5, children are taught that the nail paint is for girls only not for boys and even told that it’s acceptable to bully someone who opposes that absolute “pattern.” When Sam was picked up by Gouveia’ wife to his School, he went on crying by knowing how kids had responded to his child for wearing nail paint.
When Sam called his dad at work, Gouveia satisfied Sam and said that his nails were not looking good and that the only thing that mattered was whether he likes them. Then Sam replies in the way that broke his dad’s heart: “Daddy, I want mommy to take off the nail polish so they don’t make fun of me.”
This gender biased nature of the society is really not acceptable
