Another White House official, David Sorensen has quit amid domestic abuse allegations.
Speechwriter Sorensen has vehemently resigned after being accused of domestic abuse by his former wife who claimed that he emotionally and violently abused her while they were married.
However, Sorensen has denied all the allegations made against him, the White House official claimed that he was the victim of domestic violence during the two and a half years of their married life, according to The Washington Post.
Sorensen resignation from his post comes just a few days after staff secretary Rob Porter stepped down amid abuse allegations made against him by his two ex-wives.
Sorensen’s ex-wife Jessica Corbet who reportedly accused him of being emotionally and violently abusive with her, recounted their chaotic marriage to The Post. She claimed that Sorensen allegedly ran over her foot with a car, threw her into a wall, and put out a cigarette on her hand.
Corbet also provided photos of injuries to the newspaper she got due to the abuse, including injury from the cigarette. She went on to say that she told the FBI about the abuse and the incidents, when FBI officials spoke to her about her husband’s security clearance.
According to The Post, Sorensen denied the claims and even said that he himself a victim of Corbett’s abuse that included fights and punching. Sorensen and Corbet reportedly married for over two years.
Porter, on the other hand, resigned on Wednesday amid abuse accusations by his exes. One of his former wives gave a photo of her black eye, the injury she got because of the abuse. He also denied the credibility of the abuse allegations. However, questions have lingered about Porter was able to keep up with his job at the White House even after the abuse allegations reportedly surfaced.
