The authorities found two missing young sisters and they both were discovered in a good condition. They both were believed to be with a Utah religious sect leader.
On Monday morning, the Iron County Sheriff’s Office raided the Knights of the Crystal Blade compound. The two young sisters — 8-year-old Dina and 4-year-old Hatti have been discovered by the authorities on Monday, they both were found in a building alone outside the town of Lund.
Dina and Hatti’s grandfather confirmed the news later on Monday night, he told CBS4 that the girls were found in a “storage receptacle.”
The girls were “safe but very cold,” a local reporter wrote on Twitter.
The girls have survived the night is doubtful, said the Sheriff’s Department in Iron County Utah.
Police took the suspect, Samuel Shaffer into the custody while their father, John Coltharp was already in the custody.
Their grandfather told CBS4, the girls were taken to the nearby hospital for medical evaluations. He also added that t has been not cleared yet that when the girls would be able to meet their mother.
Dina and Hatti’s mother Micha Coltharp said that the girls went missing with their two brothers on September 13, the children were believed to have taken by their father, John Coltharp.
Micha and John Coltharp, the couple was recently separated, Micha Coltharp had the legal custody of their children after a divorce.
The family believed that John Coltharp had handed over their children to Shaffer who is a self-proclaimed “prophet” and was involved in cult-like activities with John Coltharp.
The two boys were found in a raid of a suspected polygamist compound in Iron County, Utah, Micha Coltharp said. The boys were with their paternal grandparents.
The authorities had issued an Amber Alert for the two girls but canceled it on Monday night.
Micha Coltharp had a conversation with CBS4 when her two sons have been recovered while her two daughters were still missing, the mother told CBS4 investigator Rick Sallinger, “I’m so unbelievably happy to talk to my boys and they are okay and so sorry for my girls and it’s so sad they are suffering and they don’t have each other or their parents.”
The Spectrum reported, Shaffer has been arrested by the Iron County Sheriff’s Office. He then told the location of his two daughters and Coltharp girls to the authorities.
According to the Spectrum, a girl who is Shaffer’s own daughter was found locked in a trailer, she was locked there with one of the Coltharp girls around five miles away from the compound, the other two girls were found in water barrels where they were hiding.
The girls found in good condition are undergoing a medical evaluation, according to the authorities.
Coltharp’s sister Heather Coltharp Lee took her Facebook on Monday and wrote, “I hope my brother rots in jail, which pains me so much to say because he is my little brother, and I love him. But his choices have destroyed so many lives.”
