A 46-year-old American actor and filmmaker, Ben Affleck is opening up for the very first time since he visited rehab in recent. The artist spoke out his heart to his fans and followers on his social media. The actor broke his silence over his addiction treatment at a rehabcentre.
The actor expressed how much his family and fans’ support mean to him and how the support and love he received helped him in a hard time. Affleck said that the support of the received helped him talking about his illness with other people. The “Justice League” star took to his Instagram on Thursday and posted a heartfelt message. Affleck wrote in his lengthy Instagram post, “This week I completed a forty day stay at a treatment for alcohol addiction and remain in outpatient care. The support I have received from my family, colleagues and fans means more to me than I can say. It’s given me the strength and support to speak about my illness with others.”
The actor also shared that he will keep up with outpatient care and that he has covered a long journey and there’s still a long way to go. He said that fighting with any kind of addiction isn’t everyone’s cup of tea as it’s a “lifelong and difficult struggle.”
Affleck went on to write, “Battling any addiction is a lifelong and difficult struggle. Because of that, one is never really in or out of treatment. It is full-time commitment.”
“So many people have reached out on social media and spoken about their own journeys with addiction,” the star continued. “To those people, I want to say thank you. Your strength is inspiring and is supporting me in ways I didn’t think was possible.”
The actor said that he’s so much grateful to his lovely family who is standing by his side in his hard time. He added that his family is the main source of motivation for him and that his family gives him the strength to battle with his addiction. He wrote, “It helps to know I am not alone. As I’ve had to remind myself, if you have a problem, getting help is a sign of courage, not weakness or failure.”
The actor also showed his sympathy for those people who are stuck in the same battle, addiction. He said that it helps him to know that he isn’t alone in this battle. The star said he wishes to be an example for those who are struggling with the same.

Affleck’s heartfelt Instagram post quickly drew the attention of his fans and followers. His fans and followers showed love and sympathy for him in the comment section.

It was reported that the actor’s estranged wife, actress Jennifer Garner took him to a rehab facility back in August as the actress drove the car, Entertainment Tonight and People were first to report the news. Affleck also struggled with alcohol addiction previously. The star visited rehab in 2001 for the very first time for his alcohol addiction just a few months after the release of his 2001 American romantic period war drama film, “Pearl Harbor.”
Affleck took to his Facebook page back in March 2017 and revealed that he had “completed treatment for alcohol addiction.” The actor went on to explain that the addiction treatment was “something I’ve dealt with in the past and will continue to confront.”
“I want to live life to the fullest and be the best father I can be,” before acknowledging his estranged wife, Garner, the actor wrote. “I’m lucky to have the love of my family and friends, including my co-parent, Jen, who has supported me and cared for our kids as I’ve done the work I set out to do. This was the first of many steps being taken towards a positive recovery.”
Back in 2015, Affleck and Garner announced their divorce; the couple ended their ten years of marriage. The celebrity ex-couple shares three children together: Samuel, 6, Seraphina, 9, and Violet, 12.
In order to accelerate the divorce process, Garner filed a document to sent their divorce case to a private judge, as per the document from the court obtained by US Weekly. A judge signed off on the actress request to sent their divorce case to a private judge on Monday, E! News reported.
It is the first time when the actor spoke about his addiction and treatment since his recent rehab stint.
