Bird Box Movie Edited After Controversy Broke Out

Netflix is the streaming giant and is becoming more and more popular among everybody. It has gained more popularity after winning the Oscar award. Its revenue is generated by its subscribers and they are increasing at a high pace. It releases many movies and series which are termed as Netflix Originals. Personally, I like every movie which they release and they are the must-watch ones. Their movie Bird box shook the Hollywood as it got a mind-blowing response by the audience as well as the critics.

The movie was featuring Sandra who is the protagonist debuted back in December. Bird box is the movie based on the novel of the same name written by Josh Malerman. It was released on November 12, 2018, and was made with a budget of $19.8 million. The movie gives you goosebumps at every stage and creates suspense. The movie came into controversy as it contains the footage of the 2013 Lac-Megantic rail disaster. This scene shows that the train which was having oil exploded and resulted in the death of 47 people. This disaster was the biggest in Canada. The video of the real incident was sold to Netflix by a stock-footage vendor.

This clip was taken and used in the movie Birdbox in the early scenes of the film. “Netflix and the filmmakers of Bird Box have decided to replace the clip,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement provided to EW. “We’re sorry for any pain caused to the Lac-Mégantic community.” At first, Netflix was not at all ready to take off the clip but the things got worse and Canadian politicians also got involved and they claimed the video as sensitive content. Now the clip has been removed and most probably replaced from the movie. They also said in an apology “to anyone who was offended, especially the victims and their families.”
