The recently released action comedy spy Hollywood film ‘The Kingsman: Golden Circle’ had a heroic debut of $40.3 million at the Chinese box office this weekend. The film is a sequel to ‘Kingsman: The Secret Service’ which was released in 2014. The film is based on series of Dave Gibbons and Mark Millar’s comic book named Kingsman.
The latest installment of the series received an impressive opening at China box office while its prequel had opened up with $22.5 million in 2015.
The film is directed and co-produced by Matthew Vaughn, the film seems to dominate in the Middle Kingdom. In addition, the film has earned $3.5 million from the Imax cinema.
The film is also doing good in the overseas market, The Kingsman 2 has collected $250.3 million from total 61 markets.
Matthew Vaughn directorial film received positive reviews in China. The film holds the score of 8.4 on Maoyan and 7.3 on Douban which is considering an average score. The film has become a potential tough competition to ‘Blade Runner 2049’ and ‘Geostorm.’
While ‘Never Say Die’ holds the second position at the box office, the film is running in its fourth week. Never Say Die has collected $14.3 million in its weekend which leads the total box office collection of the film to $307.8 million.
The crazy sports comedy film had already held the title of biggest comedy film in the China market, it is the biggest comedy flick ever in any single market worldwide. In addition, the second biggest comedy of all time in any single market is ‘Meet the Fockers’ with $279.3 million in North America.
On the other hand, a teenage thriller film ‘Bad Genius’ which is based on a plot on cheating in exam has earned $7.6 million in the second weekend which leads the total collection to $32.9 million, it is the highest grosser in China or any other overseas market for a Southeast Asian movie.
