There are a lot of people who like diet soda very much, and they drink it regularly, thinking that this will not harm them as it contains less sugar and preservatives. But unfortunately new reports have come, and they state that drinking two or more diet soda in a day will lead you to the risk of heart attacks and blood clots. According to a study which has been conducted by American Heart Association and American Stroke Association, women above the age of 50 are more prone to the heart attacks, who are consuming more than two drinks a day.

Dr Ralph Sacco who is the president of the American Academy of Neurology said “This is another confirmatory study showing a relationship between artificially sweetened beverages and vascular risks. While we cannot show causation, this is a yellow flag to pay attention to these findings,” Yasmin Mossavar Rahmani also asked, “What is it about these diet drinks?” “Is it something about the sweeteners? Are they doing something to our gut health and metabolism? These are questions we need answered.”

Previous research work of the scientists also claimed the link between the diet beverages, obesity, diabetes which ultimately causes heart problems. Well, there are a lot of factors which contribute to cardiovascular disease. Lifestyle factors are also involved in the picture and study told the risk was even higher for the women who are obese or African-American.

Mossavar-Rahmani said “Women who, at the onset of our study, didn’t have any heart disease or diabetes and were obese, were twice as likely to have a clot-based or ischemic stroke,” Women possessing normal weight were unlikely to develop any of the diseases. She added “African-American women without a previous history of heart or diabetes were about four times as likely to have a clot-based stroke,”
