The attacker who shot fired three people at a food festival in California died after he shot himself. Santino William Legan, 19, shot three people to death when he started to open fire at the annual Gilroy Garlic Festival which held on Sunday. He just not killed three people at the festival as he also injured several attendees who were present in the crowd.
Gilroy Police Department Chief, Scot Smithee opened up during a press conference on Friday. He said that the attacker shot himself when he found no way to escape. Smithee noted in the press conference, “I do know that the suspect was hit multiple times by the rounds that our officers fired, which put him down.”
He also conveyed, “It appears now … that once he was down that he was able to get a round-off and he shot himself, and it sounds like that round was to the head.” Smithee also concluded that the gunman started shooting at the officers when they entered the attacked area. Smithee conveyed, “the suspect immediately changed his fire from the crowd toward the officers.”
The suspect died due to an “intra-oral” wound which happened due to gunshot he took on himself. A spokeswoman of the Medical Examiner-Coroner conveyed the details to the L.A. Times on Friday.
The officials also said that more information about the dead gunman will be out soon as for now it is found that he died due to a self-inflicted wound. A man and two children killed at around 5:40 p.m. when the attack happened on Sunday. Two children who died were Stephen Romero, 6, Keyla Allison Salazar, 13, and the man who died was Trevor Deon Irby who was 25-years-old. The reason behind the attack is not out yet, and the gunman armed with an assault rifle.
