Netflix revealed the news about The Office and Friends via Twitter, “We’re sad that NBC has decided to take The Office back for its own streaming platform—but members can binge watch the show to their hearts’ content ad-free on Netflix until January 2021. The One Where We Have to Say Goodbye,” it said.” We’re sorry to see Friends go to Warner’s streaming service at the beginning of 2020 (in the US). Thanks for the memories, gang.” NBC Universal addressed the confirmation about the re-arrival of The Office in a press release, “The Office has become a staple of pop-culture and is a rare gem whose relevance continues to grow at a time when fans have more entertainment choices than ever before,” Bonnie Hammer, chairman of NBCUniversal direct-to-consumer and digital enterprises, said in a statement. “We can’t wait to welcome the gang from Dunder Mifflin to NBCUniversal’s new streaming service.”
NBC also said that The Office is the best TV series on the streaming platforms and as per the data, The Office was streamed for more than 52 billion minutes in the year 2018 and by the month April of the year 2019, the viewing time increased by double which made the series, the second most-viewed series SVOD. As per the news, Netflix is going charge $100 million per year for five years which is equivalent to half a billion dollars and all this just for The Office.
