The era of energy production is changing in a rapid manner and even the experts are also experiencing problems. The prices of renewable energy s dropping day by day and the energy storages are getting cheaper day by day. The competition has taken a change as things are different as they were 5 years ago and this type of changes are going to be experienced in the near future too. Recently, it was the occasion of 45th World’s Environment Day and the theme of the fest was ‘Air Pollution’. One of the biggest reason behind climate change is the emission of greenhouse gases including the burning of fossil fuels. The energy field has been experiencing a rapid change in the past years. If you think that coal is still the same price as it was some years ago then you are wrong as the rates of coal are on heights than ever before. According to David Schlissel, director of resource planning analysis at the Institute for Energy Economics and Financial Analysis said, “The price of producing power at natural gas plants and with wind and solar has declined so dramatically.” Energy Economics and Financial Analysis is an energy research firm based in Cleveland. The shares of coal in the US have seen a fall from 48% in 2008 to 27% in 2018 and the shares will experience more fall by 2020 as the percentage rate is going to drop down to 22%. These calculations are presented by U.S. Energy Information Administration, the statistical agency of the U.S. Department of Energy. Bruce Nilles who is the managing director of the Rocky Mountain Institute said, “We’re retiring a coal plant every month. Coal will all be gone by 2030.” Renewable energy is taking over as it is cheaper than coal as it produces 35% of U.S. electricity.
