When someone looks at the moon with the help of the telescope, you can see something in the surface of the Moon. These things are bright, uneven patterns that are present on the surface of the moon which is known as lunar swirls. The origins are said to be the ongoing mystery which is associated with power as well as localized magnetic fields.

As per the scientists, they claim that they have now solved the part of this puzzle. As per the research it has been seen that the patterns are caused by the subterranean lava tubes. These lunar swirls, as well as strange magnetism, have been known for many decades. The Apollo 15 and 16 missions to the moon show that there is the source of magnetism on the moon.

It has been seen that at high altitudes, the swirls are said to be less pronounced as well as intricate than the ones which are at the low altitude. Every swirl has got the magnetic field in which the magnetic fields that are present on the moon have not got any type of swirls. Apart from this, these kinds of swirls are said to be not new as they have got the spectral characteristics of the new formations which are less weathered than the surrounding regions.

The mechanism that is present behind this is still unknown, but the possible reason for the magnetic fields that is present around the swirls shows the deflection of the particles that are blown in from the solar wind that cause them to weather more slowly.

As per the Sonia Tikoo, who is a planetary scientist of Rutgers University-New Brunswick said that the cause of these magnetic fields, as well as swirls, is the long mystery for the researchers.
