Actress, producer, and former model Salma Hayek has shared details of her experience working with now disgraced producer Harvey Weinstein.
The recent details revealed by the actress are even more disturbing involving more physical violence threats.
Speaking to Oprah Winfrey at the Apollo Theater on February 7, the actress said that the former movie mogul told Julie Taylor, the director of 2002 Oscar-nominated biopic Frida, who starred Hayek in the film, that “I am going to break the kneecaps of that ‘C-word’.”
According to Entertainment Tonight, Hayek said, “I don’t want to get into the details… because we have more important things to talk about… but I was depressed.” She added, “I was paranoid. I lived in fear. I tried to get out. I couldn’t get out.”
The latest details follow the actress bombshell account she shared with the New York Times back in December, in which she revealed how Weinstein treated her during the making of her beloved project after which Hayek refused his advances.
The actress recounted her experience with Weinstein to The Times, she claimed that the producer threatened to kill her forced her to shoot a nude sex scene with her co-star actress Ashley Judd. Weinstein also initially denied giving the film a wide release, which the actress attributed to her denial of his advances.
The 52-year-old actress, Hayek also said that she didn’t come forward with her story sooner as she was “ashamed,” she said that she was approached to be a part of the first expose but she refused at the time.
“They contacted me to be a part of the first story, The New York Times… already I started crying when they asked, and I ended up not doing it,” Hayek said, according to Entertainment Tonight. “I started crying because (I had PTSD).”
She said, “Then I felt ashamed… I was supporting women for two decades and then I was a coward.” She added, “I was pretending everything was OK, so I had been around Harvey and acting like everything was OK.”
Hayek told Winfrey of Weinstein who she claimed harassed her over five years, “He told me, ‘I’m going to kill you.’”
