As per the several media reports, the team of Robert Mueller is researching Trump’s pardon power. The Russia investigation is currently moving with the new indication that Robert Mueller’s team is researching President’s power of pardon. It is considering that team of special counsel’s works to stay one step ahead of the administrative system.
After President Donal Trump fires Federal Bureau of Investigation (F.B.I.) Director James Comey, Mueller was appointed as a special counsel in May. He was given a task to examining the Russia’s interference in the 2016 election that also includes whether the campaign of President joined hands with Moscow in order to win the race.
A seasoned prosecutor working with Mueller, Michael Dreeben says the past presidential pardons are the special counsel lays out of Russian Investigation case. Dreeben is researching the possible limits on President’s pardon power. The task of special counsel isn’t a piece of cake as there is no federal precedent governing the limits of the pardon power by the President.
The governors can also grant the pardon as they also have the authority just like President. Renato Mariotti, the ex-federal prosecutor told Business Insider, It is possible Dreeben is examining the state-level case in order to find out the instance in which the court found a governor’s pardon to be difficult.
“Dreeben’s probably spending all day researching those cases, and he’s probably going to find some analogy that Mueller can use” in case the President issues a pardon Business Insider reported.
President Trump tweeted earlier, “While all agree the U. S. President has the complete power to pardon, why think of that when only crime so far is LEAKS against us.FAKE NEWS”
