Trump says GOP lawmaker Corker “begged”me to endorse him for re-election

Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) had made an announcement last month in which he said that he would not seek 2018's re-election.

President Donald Trump’s latest tweets are making headlines in which he ripped United States Senator from Tennessee, Bob Corker. In his tweets, the President says the GOP lawmaker Corker “begged” him for re-election in Tennessee. Trump said in his tweet that he clearly said “NO” to him after which he dropped out.

Trump said: the GOP lawmaker said “he could not win without my endorsement.”

In two tweets on Sunday, President Trump said, “Senator Bob Corker ‘begged’ me to endorse him for re-election in Tennessee. I said ‘NO’ and he dropped out (said he could not win without my endorsement). He also wanted to be Secretary of State, I said ‘NO THANKS.’ He is also largely responsible for the horrendous Iran Deal!”

Trump continued, “Hence, I would fully expect Corker to be a negative voice and stand in the way of our great agenda. Didn’t have the guts to run!”

In addition, the chairman of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Sen. Bob Corker (R-Tenn.) had made an announcement last month in which he said that he would not seek 2018’s re-election.

In response to Trump’s tweets, Corker tweeted on Saturday night, “It’s a shame the White House has become an adult day care center. Someone obviously missed their shift this morning.”
