In a working office, men commonly wear neckties and the new study show that those men who wear neckties putting them at a risk of headaches, dizziness, and nausea.
The researchers found that those men who wear ties which is a popular men’s accessory may limit the creativity and abilities of that men. The new findings published in the journal Neuroradiology on June 30.
The study also found that wearing a tie to the neck veins that reduces the blood flow to the brain and also slow down the person’s thinking due to slow down of processing of the brain.
Robin Lüddecke, who is a study researcher from the University Hospital Schleswig-Holstein in Germany, and his colleagues examined 30 men in which half of them were wearing ties for the study. These recruited men underwent three MRI scans which help in measuring the cerebral blood flow and jugular venous flow.
The group of necktie underwent three type of MRI in which the first MRI took with a loose necktie and open collar, the second with a tight necktie and a buttoned collar and the third MRI took with a loosened tie and again collar.
The researchers analyze the results and found that those men who wore a necktie decreasing the blood flow level to the brain. Tie wearers face the problem of blood flow to the brain by 7.5 percent as compared to those men who did not wear a tie.
Tech Times reported, “The percentage is sizable enough to make a fatal difference for those who have high blood pressure.”
The researchers wrote in their study, “The examination resulted in a statistically significant decrease of cerebral blood flow after tightening the necktie (p < 0.001) while the venous flow did not show any significant changes.” The researchers continue, “It appears that wearing a necktie leads to a reduction in CBF.”
Healthline said in a statement, poor oxygen supply, potentially killing brain tissue and resulting in stroke, haemorrhage, hypoxia or other conditions may occur due to the decreased blood flow to the brain.
High blood pressure, high cholesterol, heart disease, atherosclerosis, family history of heart disease, diabetes, overweight, smoking and, drinking alcohol are the risk factors due to the poor cerebral circulation.
It is not for the first time in the history that wearing ties is linked with a potential health hazard. An earlier study also found that the risk of blindness may be increased when a person wears a tie too tight.
The researchers studied the fluid of the eyeball of people and this study published in the Journal of Ophthalmology in 2003. The researchers measured the fluid before they wearing a tie and after wearing a tie and they found glaucoma which is associated through increases pressure of the intraocular and pressure of the fluid in the eyeball.
Glaucoma is one of the causes of irreversible blindness which appears at the time when the pressure increases that cause the problem to the eye. The experts said ties occur these complications because men wear them at the jugular vein which is the main blood vessels that help in passing the blood from the head to the heart.
The researchers said that there is a link between wearing tight neckties regularly and the problem of an eye.
The researchers wrote in their study, “If the patient consistently were to wear a tight necktie as a normal preference in daily life, this could lead to a sustained increase in IOP and could predispose to the development of glaucomatous optic neuropathy, thereby rendering a tight necktie a risk factor as well as a confounder of accurate IOP measurement.”
